    Costco Expansion

InterStratics is monitoring ongoing events relating to the Costco Canadian expansion program and will provide "as is" updates based on publicly disclosed information.

InterStratics Consultants Inc. is not affiliated with the Costco or its Canadian development team.

Costco announced on June 4th 2013 at the Retail Council of Canada's Store 2013 conference that they will be opening 25 new locations across Canada with a goal to get to 110 stores.  - Financial Post

    POTENTIAL New Costco Sites

    Where will these locations be?

They have not been announced, but, we have prepared a preliminary analysis based on the population totals that are not within 10km of the current Costco portfolio. Some of these locations (Guelph) are already under construction. Others are candidates for potential locations.

Above is a preliminary review of the potential new markets for Costco. Sites were selected based on areas beyond the 10km trade area of current Costco sites. Areas with a high population potential within 20km were highlighted as potential new sites. This analysis, prepared by Interstratics, does not include additional relevant factors such as income levels.

DISCLAIMER: THESE ARE NOT OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED COSTCO LOCATIONS. THESE ARE POTENTIAL LOCATIONS BASED ON POPULATION LEVELS AND THE COSTCO NETWORK. COSTCO HAS OPENED IN SOME OF THESE LOCATIONS SINCE THIS LIST WAS COMPILED IN 2012.

What is up with all these comments from Cape Breton? Not against that or anything but it seems weird that about 15 comments in a row are for Sydney. Same person or shared hysterically?

The city of Sydney NS has been waiting for a Costco to come here for years, it is our time to get one. There are hundreds of Sydney residents that have Costco cards but when you have to drive 5 hours to get to the closest one it is awful. I for one have one but I make it only once a year, but even when I go I have seen me spend $2000.00 dollars. Just imagine what I would spend if one came here, yikessssss. And I am not the only one that feels like that. I saw a gentleman above wanting one in Fort Mac well put one there to but we really really need one in Sydney to. Costco would make a killing here, you would have all of Cape Breton plus. BRING IT HERE PLEASE PLEASE.

This list was compiled 2 years ago... in 2012...... Is there any new developments???? Sydney could use some good competition and more people to shop here instead of heading to the mainland !
Many industrial Cape Breton stores have opened up to record sales. Costco would strike the retail mother lode.

Would love a Costco in Williams lake BC. It is a three hour drive to get to a Costco and we have a large amount of people that would use a Costco. Not to mention the thousands of travelers that would stop on thier way through.

I think if you could check you would find a big majority of Cape Breton people shop at Costco , in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. A store in Sydney would as busy as any of these other stores. We shop at Costco because your meats are second to none. We have no choice now but to travel and the cost of gas is crazy. Everybody here would be really really really really really grateful if we could get a store here , I am very sure the people would support it faithfully...HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON

Come on Costco... to our town!!!!

Costco needs to come to SW Nova Scotia, Kentville or Yarmouth would be the logical location. They'd do huge business out here given the 2.5-3+ hour drive to HRM.

I would definitely drive 45 mins or so to get to Costco in Bathurst NB. Definitely we need one. That and a Gay men's bar.

The people up North of New-Brunswick is hoping that costco will be coming to Bathurst. This would be awesome. It would bring in so many people from all over and also create jobs. I'm a costco shoppers myself, but need to drive 3 hours to and 3 hours to come back. Would shop there all the time for the good prices and for the family size groceries.

Bathurst NB is a PERFECT Central location for Northern NB including
the Acadian Peninsula, Chaleur Region, Dalhousie,
Campbellton and the Gaspe Coast of Qc. Bathurst needs and wants the jobs and it's
people want Costco. Although a few already have memberships,
the closest Costco is 2:30 hours away in Moncton and those who already have a membership would use it more often. This is one of the few stores we do need in Bathurst... it would be a bad business decision not to have one here!
    April 28, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterCaroline
I would love one in Bathurst, NB
    April 28, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterLise
Bathurst should be your choice......perfect location to serve the large area of Northern NB, Gaspe coast, and the Miramichi . The North West part of our province, Edmundston can be serviced also. This creates a very large population for Costco to consider opening a store in Bathurst. It would be an asset for the population and our economy, and of course, Costco.
    April 28, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterGee
Costco in Bathurst, NB would be great. Nearest one is 2.5 hr drive. It would serve all of Northern NB as well as parts of Gaspe.
